Slice Trail: why a ×5 finish can still earn one star

Edited by TapNest Play · Updated

Slice Trail has two different reasons to replay a course: collect more fruit for stars, or improve the multiplied score and coin payout. They overlap, but they are not the same target. A high finish multiplier can reward a run that missed most of the fruit. The result screen tells you which part of the run actually needs work.

Slice Trail first-course result showing five of thirteen fruit, fifty slice points, a times-five finish and 280 coins with one star
A real Course 1 result: 5 of 13 fruit, 50 slice points, ×5 at the finish and 280 banked coins. Only one star was earned.

Read the example result

Each fruit adds ten slice points. Our pictured run cut five fruit, so it earned 50 points before the finish. The ×5 target made that 250, and the fixed 30-coin completion reward brought the banked amount to 280. The saved best score uses the multiplied slice points; the extra 30 is a completion reward, not another fruit or a star bonus. A failed run does not bank its unfinished earnings.

Set a fruit target before replaying

Finishing earns one star. Cutting at least 40% of a course’s fruit earns two, and at least 60% earns three. Course 1 contains 13 fruit: six are enough for two stars and eight are enough for three. Five out of thirteen is below 40%, which explains the screenshot even with a ×5 finish. If stars are your goal, identify missed fruit along the route before changing how you approach the target.

Lift to avoid danger, descend to make contact

A press launches the knife forward and upward; another press in midair gives it another lift. Repeated tapping is useful over spikes and water, but staying high can carry the blade over low fruit. Stop pressing early enough for the knife to fall toward a fruit cluster. The blade itself must touch the fruit, so the handle passing nearby or a high arc above it does not count. Watch the next obstacle before committing to a low descent.

Use the platforms as planning points

Landing on a cream platform stops forward travel and gives you a moment to choose the next launch. Early courses have a continuous platform; later ones add gaps. Do not confuse a harmless landing on cream with dropping into the water between platforms. On the first course, practice reaching the platform before the pink spike, then relaunching over it. Once that transition is reliable, adjust the earlier arc to collect another low fruit instead of trying to improve every part of the run at once.

Choose what to keep and what to retry

The twelve courses unlock in sequence, with four courses in each of Coconut Coast, Peach Sunset and Mint Lagoon. Unlocked courses remain available for replay. Coins, owned blades, best scores and stars save in this browser; an unfinished run does not. All six blades share the same movement and reach, so buying a blade changes the look rather than making a difficult jump easier. For a better star rating, practice the route; for a different appearance, spend the coins you have already banked.
