About this game

A little room to bloom. Connect matching flower tiles with paths of two turns or fewer, clear 24 original gardens, and grow your star collection at your own pace.

Independent mahjong-connect game inspired by the matching-pair concept of Butterfly Shimai on CrazyGames. Original flower artwork, code, garden layouts and synthesized audio by TapNest Play. Not affiliated with Famobi, Butterfly Shimai or CrazyGames.

How to play

Click or tap two matching flowers. Their path must stay clear of other tiles and turn at most twice; the empty outer border is usable. Clear every pair to open the next garden. Arrow keys move focus; Enter or Space selects; H gives a hint, U undoes the last pair, and P or Escape pauses. Hint and Mix each cost one assist: 0 assists earns 3 stars, 1–3 earns 2, and 4 or more earns 1. Undo is free and keeps the assist count. Mix rearranges the remaining flowers into a solvable board and clears Undo. There is no timer or loss limit. Restart asks before resetting; choosing another garden replaces the unfinished board. Progress saves only in this browser.

An open path, with room for two turns

Two identical flowers disappear only when a horizontal and vertical path connects their centers without crossing another tile. The path can bend at most twice. The empty border outside the tiles counts as open space, so two edge flowers can sometimes connect around the entire board. Diagonal contact alone does not make a pair.

Learn in the meadow, then explore

The 24 gardens are grouped into four chapters of six: Morning meadow has 4×4 boards and four flower types; Orchard walk uses 6×4 and six types; Glasshouse uses 6×6 and seven types; Moonlit garden uses 6×8 and eight types. Clear every tile to unlock the next garden. Each initial layout has a verified complete solution, although a different order of matching may leave no legal pair.

Hints and mixes keep the garden moving

Hint marks a legal pair and draws its route. It does not promise the best long-term choice. If there is no legal pair, Mix rearranges only the remaining flowers and gives that arrangement a complete solution. Each successful Hint or Mix adds one assist. Empty cells stay empty. Undo restores only the last removed pair; a Mix clears that undo. There is no countdown, move budget or permanent failure screen.

Collect stars without rushing

Finish with no assists for three stars, one to three assists for two, or four or more for one. Matching mistakes and Undo do not reduce your stars. Undo never removes a hint or mix cost. The best rating for each garden stays recorded, so you can revisit an unlocked garden to improve it. Restarting returns to the same initial layout with zero assists.

What stays on this device

The current board, one-pair undo, assists, unlocked gardens, best star ratings and sound preference save in browser storage. Opening another garden replaces the unfinished board after confirmation. Reloading a completed board reopens its result. Clearing site data removes these saves; if storage is blocked, you can still play in the open tab. There is no account, cloud synchronization or online leaderboard.

Questions about Petal Link

Can I connect flowers around the outside?

Yes. The one-cell empty border around the board is part of the routing area. The same two-turn limit still applies, and other flower tiles block the path.

Does Petal Link have a time limit?

No. You may pause, inspect the board or use an assist at your own pace. Stars depend only on how many hints and mixes you use.

Is this Butterfly Shimai?

No. Petal Link is an original TapNest Play game in the mahjong-connect genre. It uses its own flower art, levels, assistance rules and local saves, and does not embed the CrazyGames game.
