About this game
Play the original Neo Geo arcade version of The King of Fighters '98 on PlayNest. Choose a three-fighter team and battle the computer in real time. Other editions are listed but not yet available.
The King of Fighters '98 game is by SNK. The site owner reports publication and adaptation rights. This edition runs locally in the browser using Geolith (BSD-3-Clause) and its MIT-licensed web wrapper; there is no third-party game frame or ad service in the player.
How to play
Select Play now, choose The King of Fighters '98, then select Load and play. Once the game starts, insert a coin with 5 or the on-screen button, then press 1 to start. Use arrow keys to move and Z, X, C, V for the four attack buttons. Choose three fighters and their order to begin a match. A gamepad can also be used. After losing, insert another coin to play again; reloading restarts the game.
Start an arcade match
Choose The King of Fighters '98 and load the game. Press 5 to insert a coin, then 1 to start. Select Advanced or Extra mode, choose three fighters, and set their order before the match.
Use four attack buttons
Move with the arrow keys and press Z, X, C or V for the arcade buttons A, B, C and D. Gamepads are supported. The game data downloads before the Neo Geo startup screen appears.

Only the original '98 arcade edition has a tested local player. Other editions are listed but cannot be launched yet.
Does this game save progress?
The emulator may keep its arcade memory data in this browser. Reloading starts the game again, and progress is not shared between devices.
